Craft Beer Review – Gilgamesh Brewing Vader CDA

Gilgamesh Vader Coffee CDA

Gilgamesh Brewing Vader CDA with Coffee: Day 6 of my Advent Calendar exchange with my father, featuring a 6.5% abv coffee infused Cascadian Dark Ale named Vader which combines three of my favourite things: beer, coffee and what could be considered a Star Wars tribute. This beer is so me, it took me all of 2 seconds to search my feelings and find the appropriate prop for this picture.

Aroma and Appearance: This pours with one finger of foam with medium carbonation and is the colour of “dark side” mahogany. The aroma is sithly dark coffee, chocolate and a bit of lemon citrus.

Flavour: I got lots of darth coffee and cocoa up front, with toasty bread malt in the middle and force chokes of lemon and tangerine bitterness on the roasty finish.

Overall Impression: Good, use an aggressive pour, let the beer flow through you.

Rating: Very good beer, overall 7/10 rating however with the label and inference I am altering my overall rating to excellent at 8/10 – pray I don’t alter it any further!

Food Pairing: Come to the dark side, we have cookies…and they go well with this beer.

This beer deserves a lightsaber duel to go with it, perhaps the most important one. I am warning you, if have have been hiding under a rock for 30 years it contains major spoilers for episodes 4-6.
