Sierra Nevada/Oskar Blues – Beer Camp Across America CANfusion Rye Bock: A collaboration with Oskar Blues, which happens to be one of my favourite breweries, this Rye Bock is brewed at a strength of 7.2 % with 45 IBUs. Oskar Blues was one of the first pioneers of canned craft beer, knowing that moderns cans help preserve the beer flavour for longer and prevent light from striking it this beer travels well across states, provinces and can be easily take many places where bottles can’t go.
Aroma and Appearance: This pours with two fingers of foam and some small centered bubbles can be seen in the golden amber coloured beer. The aroma is sweet, nutty, rye like and herbal.
Flavour: Lots of dark rye bread up front with earth and nuts in the middle, a touch boozy and more sweet malt follow only to be finished with a tangy citrus bitterness that balances it out.
Overall Impression: Oskar Blues can seemingly do no wrong this beer hit the upper limit of my malty sweet tolerance, but didn’t breach it.
Rating: Excellent at 8/10, take a bock and add rye and I say thank you!
Food Pairing: Smoked meat on rye bread, grilled with cheese.
