Sierra Nevada/Cigar City – Beer Camp Across America Yonder Bock: A collaboration with Cigar City Brewing yet another famous brewery I have yet to find on the West Coast, beer is brewed at a strength of 7.7% abv with 45 IBUs and is described as a Heller Bock style beer with a Latin flair.
Aroma and Appearance: This pours a clear amber with two fingers of tan foam and some small sporadic bubbles in the glass. The aroma is mango, tangerine, pineapple, lemon citrus and bread malt.
Flavour: Full of fruity hops, mostly mango up front it quickly settles into some doughy malts, caramel with tangerine citrus followed by some toffee and a mild citrus bitterness that has a sweet agave like aftertaste.
Overall Impression: Sweet, yet balanced enough to not be too sweet and it sure is tasty
Rating: Excellent at 8/10, another style of beer that deserves a lot more attention here in Canada.
Food Pairing: Fry up some plantains and enjoy with this one, or even better put them on ice cream and all three would be great.
