Sierra Nevada/Ninkasi – Beer Camp Across America Double Latte Coffee Milk Stout: A collaboration with Ninkasi Brewing, this beer seemed to be a crowd pleaser so I thought I would save it for the last day. It is brewed with lactose and infused with Stumptown Coldbrew cold press coffee to give it a unique flavour. It is brewed at a strength of 7.6% abv and 60 IBUs and should be enjoyed in a Snifter type glass for the best experience and should sit out the fridge for at least 10 minutes before pouring if not longer.
Appearance and Aroma: It pours a dark brown colour with an inch of tan foam and some bubbles near its surface. The aroma as expected is dark roasted coffee beans and chocolate milk.
Flavour: Lots of cocoa and dark coffee to start with roasty malts in the middle amongst a super creamy texture and the taste of mile followed by a very dry coffee bitter finish.
Overall Impression: Was worth the wait, I like coffee stouts and the addition of the lactose really helped here. Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout is a similar brew if you can’t find this one.
Rating: Excellent at 8/10, a worthy finish to 13 days of beer camp
Food Pairing: Quality bakery biscotti would be perfect.
