Green Flash Brewing – West Coast IPA: Hailing from San Diego, CA this IPA is brewed at a strength of 7.3% with 95 IBUs and was enjoyed at home from a 12 oz bottle.
Aroma and Appearance: This craft beer pours a cloudy copper colour with lots of tiny bubbles that lead to one finger of lacy foam. The aroma is pungent tangerine, mango with some biscuit malt and floral earthy notes.
Flavour: I like the biscuit malt off the bat with some amazing caramelization on the tip of the tongue, mango in the middle and a very resinous piney dry and bitter finish.
Overall Impression: Oh so very good, one of my favourite IPA’s so far and I think a fresh bottle off the line would be amazing.
Rating: I give it an excellent rating of 8/10, on the upper end of the excellent range.
Food Pairing: With the caramels this is an IPA you should pair with a crusted T-bone steak on the BBQ.
This hits all the flavours I look for in my IPA’s, malts, caramels, a nice bitter kick with some fruit in the middle.
