Granville Island Brewing -Swing Span Amber Ale: Is a craft beer brewed in British Columbia (I still call it craft), at a strength of 5.6% abv with 45 IBU’s and was enjoyed at home in from a bottle into a beer glass.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a clear amber with 1 inch of foam and some small rising bubbles near the side of the glass. The aroma is melon, mango, tangerine and nectarine with a hint of caramel.
Flavour: I got some nice sticky toasted malt up front with some caramel and a fruity middle that finishes dry and bitter with some pine resin that sits on your palate for a while.
Overall Impression: best 6 pack beer GIB has released in a long time.
Rating: I give it a very good rating of 7/10, I had heard good things about this one and I agree it was a good one.
Food Pairing: This would go nicely with caramelized peaches, or chicken with mango salsa.
I am glad to see that Granville Island Brewing is listening to the local market and creating beers that are good again. Their 22 oz releases have been pretty great so far and finally we have a 6 pack release that is worth buying.
Their bombers have been great for a long time. It is just good to see that with Vern’s direction Molson can actually brew a really good beer. Shocking!
Yeah, I keep these in stock for guests who aren’t craft converts yet since they are decent and easy to find (so they can find it again).
If I drank 6 packs regularly there is a good chance this would be in my fridge. I just only drink max of 22oz of one beer in close succession.
