Craft Beer Review – Gigantic Brewing Too Much Coffee Man Black Saison

Gigantic Brewing Too Much Coffee Man Black SaisonGigantic Brewing Too Much Coffee Man Black Saison: Is a dark saison brewed with coffee in Portland, Or at a strength of 8.2% (more like an Imperial Saison) and was enjoyed in National Donut Day with a Krispy Kreme free donut.

Aroma and Appearance: It pours a very dark reddish brown with no visible bubble action and a tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is fruity coffee, chocolate, toffee and a hint of caramel.

Flavour: This beer is somewhat sweet and fruity, with notes of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a bit of saison spice at the end with an overall lighter mouth feel.

Overall Impression: It’s a bit mixed up, but overall the flavours work together at the end an I enjoyed this one as well as the pairing.

Rating: I give it a very good rating of 7/10, it’s not another coffee stout and I commend them for their creativity on this one.

Food Pairing: I paired this with a donut, the sweetness brought out more of the fruit in the beer and the beer brought out more texture in the donut filling making it taste a bit creamier.

Hope you had a chance to grab a donut on National Donut Day, many places were giving them away for free (thanks Twitter)
