Four Winds Wildflower Saison: This variant from Delta, BC brewer Four Winds is brewed to a strength of 6.5% abv with 30 IBUs. It’s infused with both chamomile and elderflowers to give some unique botanical properties, being a seasonal release that is a part of their Eurus series (aka the really fricken good ones). These limited releases generally sell out pretty fast, so don’t hesitate if you see one in a store.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a slightly cloudy golden colour with a hint of pink roses, two fingers of foam and an effervescent bubbly middle. The aroma features grains, flowers, mild pepper, straw, whiffs of herbal tea and just a hint of barnyard. The smell reminds me of a walk through a flowery garden with a farm off in the distance as it is very pleasant, fresh and botanical.
Flavour: It has mervelous floral opening featuring honey, wildflowers and strawberry fruit up front. In the middle of the beer, hints of lemon citrus, rosé wine and straw appear before it closes with a bit of fresh ground pepper and a dry champagne like finish.
Overall Impression: A favourite of mine, I really appreciate style variety like this.
Rating: I gave it an excellent rating of 8.5/10, this is a bodacious beer that has some pleasant flavours to delight your palate.
Food Pairing: The best goat cheese you can find, or pair it with some edible flowers on a summer strawberry salad.
