Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale: Brewed in Delaware to a strength of 7.2% abv with 50 IBUs, this year round Brown Ale is well hopped and brewed with caramelized sugar as per the description on the bottle.
Aroma and Appearance: Pours a very dark brown with a thin layer of foam and no visible carbonation. Its aroma is nuts, earth, rye bread, chocolate, toffee and caramel.
Flavour: Almost the same as the aroma, chocolate, nuts, toffee, up front with pronounced rye bread malts in the middle and a dry mocha chocolate coffee finish.
Overall Impression: The best brown ale I have had to be honest, just an overall solid beer.
Rating: Excellent at 8/10, would make a great go to brown ale.
Food Pairing: A quality burger with caramelized onions and sharp cheddar would be delightful with this beer.
Interestingly enough they claim that this it is a hybrid brown, scotch and IPA ale so it doesn’t really adhere to any particular style guideline, however it still drinks a lot like a nut brown in my opinion.
