Craft Beer Review – New Holland Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout

New Holland Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout

New Holland Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout: Brewed in Michigan to a strength of 11% abv, this stout is aged in Bourbon barrels for at least 90 days prior to bottling.

Aroma and Appearance: It pours a very dark brown colour with some red hues, hardly any foam and no visible bubbles. The aroma is oak, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, booze and hints of coffee beans.

Flavour: Molasses, chocolate and dark roast coffee up front with a super creamy texture. The middle has distinctive bourbon, vanilla and oak characteristics while it finishes with a malted brown sugar fudge like flavour.

Overall Impression: Great bourbon barrel aged stout that will develop even further with age.

Rating: Excellent at 8.5/10, worth picking up if you ever see it.

Food Pairing: A warm homemade chocolate brownie with french vanilla ice cream would be a nice pairing.

In this video, you’ll see a great candid interview with their head brewer Jason Salas who talks about the process they go through to brew and aged this beer.
