Dageraad Randonneur Saison: Is a genuine Belgian Style Saison that is brewed locally in Burnaby, BC by a very stylistically dedicated Belgian brewery which comes in at a strength of 6.4% abv. Saisons were traditionally brewed for farm labourers, often at much lower abv’s so they could drink it through they work day and still function. This is a limited small batch release, if you want it you better go find it right away as it will sell off very quickly.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a cloudy gold with a lot of little bottle conditioned carbonation and two fingers of foam (more if you pour aggressively). The aroma is spicy cloves and coriander with pepper and hay.
Flavour: I got some hay and grass with a glorious effervescent mouth feel, some fruity esters and a spicy clove pepper finish that hits home nicely.
Overall Impression: I had a fresh bottle just released at my local LRS, this could be aged for a year or two easily with the bottle conditioning but not sure it would really improve, just change.
Rating: I give it an excellent rating of 8/10, genuine spicy saison that hits all the right notes.
Food Pairing: Saison’s are good palate cleansers, good for any meal however herbed goat cheese, peppered meat or farmers sausages would be delightful here.
I make a point to try all their stuff, so far the beer from this place has been high quality and unique to the market be sure to check out their website for more information.
Still yet to try this one bit I have been meaning to look for a bottle. It sounds great for sure.
It is definitely worth a pick up
