Sierra Nevada/Ballast Point – Beer Camp Across America Electric Ray IPL: A collaboration with Ballast Point Brewing this India Pale Lager was brewed at a whopping 8.5% abv with 70 IBUs and was my first true Beer Camp beer from the case that was released.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a clear golden colour with two fingers of foam and a very bubbly middle. The aroma was grapefruit and tangerine citrus, grainy malts and some honey.
Flavour: Immediately I got sweet honey and grains, similar to honey oat bread, followed by grapefruit juice, grass and a mild piney bitter finish.
Overall Impression: Interesting flavour, but missing the crispy texture that makes lagers so pleasant.
Rating: It was ok, 6/10 at best, considering the brewers that was a bit disappointing.
Food Pairing: Keeping with the seafood and camp theme, go with campfire fire cooked prawns doused in lime juice.
