Granville Island Brewing & JOEY Restaurants – Urban Legend IPA: Brewed locally in collaboration with, or specifically for JOEY restaurant. This IPA is comes in at a strength of 7.5% abv with 75 IBU’s and is labelled as a #BitterAllies beer label. I like the label, the picture here doesn’t depict the embossing very well but it is an admirable look beer.
Aroma and Appearance: This pours a cloudy orange copper colour with 1 finger of foam, some suspended gunk and small rising bubbles. The aroma is tangerine, grapefruit and mango a nice tropical trio.
Flavour: I got some nice doughy malts mixed with chewy caramel, some fruit in the middle and a very nice pine resin finish that rounds out into a very bitter aftertaste.
Overall Impression: Well done, I wish their 6 pack Brockton IPA tasted like this.
Rating: I give it an excellent rating of 8/10, not sure if they will make it again but this was nice.
Food Pairing: Strong caramel IPA’s like this go well with grilled steaks, if they had this a Joey’s still it would go nice with one of their’s.
