Dead Frog Super Fearless IPA Batch #3: The third release of this Imperial IPA still brewed at a strength of 9% abv with 93 IBUs however, only this one was brewed with a different base malt due to a shipment issue so no Maris Otter here.
Aroma and Appearance: Not as foamy as batch #1, just one finger of foam with a few noticeable bubbles can be seen in the cloudy copper ale. The aroma was very strong and fruity highlighting mango, tangerine and papaya notes.
Flavour: Very citrus hop forward, lots of lemon and grapefruit with a touch of caramel and very bitter piney and citrus finish that lead to a powerful lemon after taste.
Overall Impression: Not bad, but I really wish I had two bottles of Batch #1. I love Maris Otter malt, and this beer proved why I love it so much for IPA’s.
Rating: I still gave this an above average rating of 6/10, some of the flavour was a bit strong but still drinkable.
Food Pairing: Switch up the meat to a peppery chicken to match with the lemon citrus in the beer.
Did you have a favourite batch release of this beer? I commend them for being creative with the malts instead of delaying, but I preferred the first batch.
