Alameda – Yellow Wolf Imperial IPA: Is an Imperial IPA brewed in Portland, Oregon at a strength of 8.2% with 103 IBUs and was enjoyed at home, poured from a 22 oz bottle into a beer glass.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours an golden yellow with a whole lot of foam and bubbles. The aroma is mostly grapefruit with a bit of orange and pine in there.
Flavour: Lots of herbs and grapefruit up front with some sticky malt and citrus zest in the middle and a tangerine pine finish that lingers on the palate.
Overall Impression: Nice Imperial IPA that isn’t so strong it knocks your socks off, fairly bitter but not crazy and a lighter malt profile than most Imperial IPA’s.
Rating: I give it a very good rating of 7/10, I still like a bit more malt in my Imperial IPA’s to rate them higher however this was a decent offering and worth trying.
Food Pairing: Go with some hot wings on this one, the citrus and bitterness would go well with spicy meat.
