Dieu Du Ciel – Aphrodisiaque: Is a vanilla and coffee stout brewed in Quebec at a strength of 6.5% which was poured from a bottle into a snifter glass at home.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a dark, dark brown with a touch of tan foam and some sporadic bubbles. The aroma is complex with vanilla beans, cocoa, dark coffee beans, toasted marshmallow and a bit of molasses.
Flavour: It is very chocolate forward, with loads of dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, molasses and a smooth mouth feel that finishes roasty and dry.
Overall Impression: Well balanced, drinkable with some nice flavour to it. This is one of the good ones, although perhaps a bit over-rated on rate beer (#2 stout all time), it is still a very nice offering and worth buying one or more.
Rating: I give it an excellent rating of 8/10, it has some nice coffee and cocoa flavours with a bit of complexity that makes you want more of it.
Food Pairing: This would go well with any sweet dessert, coffee cake, donuts on National Donut Day (or any time really) or even vanilla ice cream.
So far the beers have all been great from this brewery, what other Dieu du Ciel beers would you recommend let me know in the comments section so I know what to buy next?
I also dispute #2 overall stout. It is very tasty though and I think you have the rating just right. They make great beer to be sure.
