Tap It Brewing – IPA: This is a California brewed India Pale Ale which comes in at a strength of 7% and was poured from a 12 oz bottle into a glass at home. I was excited to see 6 packs of this beer at Central City Liquor Store as I remember it being pretty good from the 2013 Advent Calendar, so I picked one up.
Aroma and Appearance: Pours a hazy golden with lots of little bubbles and just a small layer of foam. The aroma is a powerful mix of tangerine, tropical fruit and grapefruit.
Flavour: Starts off with a nice citrus and bready malt backbone, with some grapefruit and citrus notes finally finishing fairly bitter and piney. There is a touch of caramel in there, however the bittercitrus seems to dominate.
Overall Impression: This is a nice go to California IPA, very Pacific North West, with a good balance of bitter and malt. I’ll have no trouble making it through a 6 pack of this over a stretch of a few days.
Rating: I give it a 7/10 as in very good, it’s very much to style for an IPA on the west coast and I would suggest you try it if you get a chance.
Food Pairing: Spicy BBQ Chicken would suit this well.
