Double Mountain Killer Red Fresh Hop IPA: Brewed in Hood River, OR at a strength of 7.2% abv and 88 IBU’s of fresh Perle and Sterling hops this beer was a product of a good hop season for their grower so they expanded their Killer line to include an India Red Ale which I was excited to see recently.
Aroma and Appearance: This pours a reddish copper colour with two fingers of foam and a medium level of carbonation. The aroma was orange citrus, pear, tropical mango and sweet doughy malt.
Flavour: It is hop forward, with fruity apple and pine up front, some sweet grainy bread, earth and mandarin oranges make up the middle while it finishes with sweet pairs, mango and a grapefruit bitterness that lingers.
Overall Impression: Very fruity, delightful hop profile from two hops I have very little exposure too.
Rating: I give it an awesome rating of 9/10, very nice addition to the fresh hop world they should make this every year as I will buy lots of it.
Food Pairing: Keep it clean and enjoy the fresh hops, no food pairing here.
Likely the last of the unique fresh hop beers I’ll have this year, anything at this point is out of it’s fresh window by now. Below is a video of them working on their 2012 versions of this brew.
