Kona Brewing Koko Brown – brewed with toasted coconut this brown ale comes in at a 5.5% alcohol level and was enjoyed at home on the patio (yay it’s patio weather!) from a 12 oz bottle poured into a glass.
Aroma and Appearance: This pours a mahogany brown, with very little foam and some rather large carbonation bubbles randomly making their way up the glass.
Flavour: A nice nutty, earthy coconut flavour with hints of darker fruit.
Overall Impression: Pleasant patio beer, good if you are feeling tropical yet craving a darker beer.
Rating: I would rate about 7/10, the coconut adds nicely to this one and doesn’t take over. I bet this is a real winner fresh and on tap!
Food Pairing: I suggest coconut shrimp.
