BC Craft Beer Review – Bridge Brewing Black Rye IPA

Bridge Brewing Black Rye IPA

Bridge Brewing Black Rye IPA: A new release from this recently expanded North Vancouver, BC brewery, this darker Rye IPA is brewed to a strength of 5.8% abv and 68 IBUs.

Aroma and Appearance: This beer pours a very dark brown with 3 huge fingers of foam (pour carefully) and no visible bubbles. Its aroma consists of tangerine, passion fruit, dark rye bread, toffee and chocolate.

Flavour: I got lots of rye bread and toffee up front with tangerine citrus, pine resin and floral hop notes in the middle. It finishes with herbal spices and dry cocoa with a dark coffee bean aftertaste.

Overall Impression: Lots of good flavours in here, they don’t all go together perfectly but it works pretty well.

Rating: Very good at 7/10, worth a try if you see it locally.

Food Pairing: Smoked pastrami (think rye and pastrami sandwich).

Local smaller breweries deliver all their own beer in trucks like this, they do their own distribution:
