Craft Beer Review – Widmer 30th Anniversary Craftylicious Gigantic Collaboration

Widmer Craftylicious

Widmer 30th Anniversary Craftylicious Gigantic Collaboration: Day 2 of my Advent Calendar exchange with my father, featuring a Widmer collaboration with Gigantic to celebrate Widmer’s 30th anniversary. This is the 4th special collaboration release related to their 30th anniversary, it was brewed at a strength of 5.7% abv and is considered a wild ale.

Aroma and Appearance: This pours a copper orange colour with one finger of foam and some sporadic carbonation. Its aroma is very interesting and fruity featuring gooseberries, general tartness,  biscuit malt, peaches and grapefruit.

Flavour: This is a unique beer, it has a definitive gooseberry overtone with peaches, strawberries, tart huckleberries with some biscuit malt and a dry salivating finish.

Overall Impression: Quite unique, a pleasure to drink and something worth trying – it resembled a lot of fruit beers I have had before.

Rating: Very good beer, overall 7/10 rating.

Food Pairing: The biscuit and fruity flavours would go great with peach cobbler or a strawberry rhubarb pie here.

Here’s a nice little 30 year “congrats” video featuring lots of cheers from other brewers. I have to admit the AB-Inbev folks looked like they were forced to say something, otherwise quite great!
