Whistler Brewing – Pineapple Express Wheat Ale: Brewed in Whistler, BC this wheat ale comes in at 5% alcohol, served in a glass from a 22 oz bottle at home.
Aroma and Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey colour with minimal foam, rapid small rising bubbles in the middle of the glass and has an aroma of oats and pineapple, lots of pineapple.
Flavour: At first sip, I swore I was drinking straight pineapple juice, but then the malty character came in followed by a highly citrus and acidic finish. Overall its fresh and fruity.
Overall Impression: I thought this was the perfect beer to drink when the 20C weather finally came here, it was decent but the pineapple dominated the flavour just a little too much for my liking.
Rating: I give it a 6/10, still refreshing for a hot day and tasty, but overpowered by the pineapple a little bit too much to rate any higher.
Food Pairing: Bacon, pair it with smokey bacon. Also think this would make a perfect pork tenderloin marinade!
