Lagunitas – Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale: This California brewed filtered summer pale wheat ale was created at a strength of 7.5% abv with 64 IBU’s and was enjoyed from a bottle that I poured into a beer glass.
Aroma and Appearance: As shown in the photo, the colour is golden yellow with 2 fingers of foam on the pour that roused lots of bubbles in the center. The aroma is fruity hops with a tangerine citrus, some mango and a peach note.
Flavour: I got sort of a doughy malt with a refreshing juicy middle and a somewhat earthy resinous finish with some citrus throughout.
Overall Impression: Not a tonne going on here, but it does what it does very well and makes a decent hot day drinker and grows on you to the point that you crave more after a few.
Rating: I thought it was excellent at 8/10. You could pack a lot of these back easily as the booze is not noticeable.
Food Pairing: Give sushi a whirl here, the filtered wheat base and fruity hops would go nice with some soy sauce dipped sashimi.
Lagunita’s is always reliable, so I grabbed a six pack of these to try it and reserve some for guests.
