Elysian – Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale: Is a Pale Ale with blood orange flavour that is brewed in Seattle, WA at a strength of 5.4% with 45 IBU’s and was enjoyed in a 22 oz beer glass at home.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a cloudy amber with 2 fingers of foam and no visible bubbles. The aroma is fresh squeezed orange juice, doughy malt and tangerine citrus.
Flavour: It starts with the taste of fresh oranges, bready malt and a lot of acidic citrus in the middle with a classic dry piney finish.
Overall Impression: Although it’s a bit one dimensional, it really grew on me as I drank it as they captured the blood orange flavour nicely – plus the label is just plain awesome!
Rating: I give it a very good rating of 7/10, it was nice to drink, unique to the market and fairly well executed.
Food Pairing: Basically anything you would enjoy orange juice with, this would be a perfect brunch beer so go with toast, bacon and eggs.

I had a few of these last fall (as I had bought a 6-pack). I liked the OJ on the front of the palate but found the piney finish overpowered all in the end. It wasn’t for me.
It did have quite the pine and citrus blast too, but it grew on me to point where I really liked it by the end.
I preferred the Blood Orange beer they did for their beers of the apocalypse but this one was good.
