Le Trou Du Diable – La Saison du Tracteur: Is a saison brewed in Quebec at a strength of 6%, also listed as a farmhouse ale, and was poured into a snifter to help me absorb the Habs loss last night.
Aroma and Appearance: It pours a hazy gold with a generous 3 fingers of foam and lots of tiny bubbles. The aroma is mainly clove, banana and chili powder.
Flavour: This saison has a very light mouth feel with a nice effervescent carbonation and hits you with cloves and spice upfront, finishes with some mild bitterness, acidic pepper and fruit.
Overall Impression: Pretty much well executed to style for a saison, goes down easy and balanced.
Rating: I give it a very good rating of 7/10, it makes a nice summer sipper. There are better one’s out there but you won’t go wrong with this one, personally I like a bit more funk and spice in them.
Food Pairing: Would have loved to pair this with some fried local Pearl’s Perogies, sauerkraut and and farmers sausage.
I was impressed by the Hab’s season this year and without their star goalie they didn’t completely fall apart, so I thought this made a nice tribute to celebrate their season with a Quebec saison!
